Transfer speed is really quite fast as well considering it's USB 2.0. By the way it appears Apple changed something in this Nano.I didn't use Itunes with my Gen4 Ipod Photo but instead used Sharepod or Anapod software to transfer MP3z.But they don't work correctly with this Gen5 Nano so I had to load the latest Itunes. That works great with the Ipod Nano Gen5 and it seems Apple improved Itunes a lot since the last time I used it which was Itunes 5 which totally hosed my WinXP years ago.But the new version of Itunes works great with the Nano Gen5 and works fine on my Windows 7 PC. Infact this one not only requires extensive disassembly of the player to get the battery out but also requires you to desolder the old battery and resolder the new one.But there are service places that will replace the battery for you for around 50 to 60 bucks. But the battery should last for years. Only downside to this player is like other Apple players the battery was not designed to be user replaceable. There's tons of featur es in this thing and it shoots nice 640x480 video (Something the current Nano does not do). Battery life is outstanding and I power a full size over the ear pair of Audio Technica WS-99 headphones with it (Max or near max volume output) and audio is OK.I'm adding an inline amp to beef up the audio some with the full size headphones but on max or near max now it does a good job. You'll want to get a protective case for it to keep it nice looking. I'm not sure why they decided to put the headphone jack on the bottom but it doesn't really matter as I just drop it in my pocket upside down (jack up). I really love this thing. This thing is much better than the current Nano. The only thing I'd like more of is memory but at 16GB I've got 2500 MP3z on it and still have about 3gigs left.I transcoded a Video to an MP4 at the Nano's resolution and it plays fine.
